Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hussein Kamel Al-Shahir, President of Al-Muthanna University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Basim Khairi Khudair, Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, the Department of Geography organized a scientific symposium on the occasion of the International Geodiversity Day, entitled “Geological Diversity in Al-Muthanna Governorate.”

The symposium featured lectures by Professor Dr. Sarhan Naeem and Professor Dr. Safeer Jasim, and was moderated by Professor Dr. Anwar Sabah Mohammed. The researchers discussed the geological significance of Al-Muthanna Governorate and its unique natural diversity, which contributes to supporting environmental and developmental studies in the region. The event also included a photo exhibition showcasing the geological aspects and distinctive natural landmarks of the governorate. The symposium was attended by Professor Dr. Ali Musa Rashid, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, along with a group of faculty members and students, in an enriching scientific atmosphere that reflected the university’s commitment to promoting geological awareness and fostering a culture of preserving geodiversity in Iraq.
